A brief description of the Club and its activities

The Daniel Stewart's & Melville College F.P. Golf Club is open to all male members of the Parent Club, that is The Daniel Stewart's and Melville College Club.

Our aim is to encourage the enjoyment of golf by arranging competitions, matches, and outings throughout the year for all standards of golfers.

Our membership is currently approximately 120 strong, with about 90 individuals participating in Club golf during the season.

There are three main Outings each year: in the Spring, the Summer, and the Autumn. Traditionally we have visited Muirfield for our Summer Outing, but we vary the locations for our other two Outings.

Also there are three main Competitions each year. The Singles competition and the Foursomes competition are drawn in the Spring and played during the season. The Greensomes competition - where the pairings are drawn out of the hat - commences in the Autumn and is played during the winter.

In addition we have various Matches held throughout the year most of which are against other Clubs, but some of which are social. And on the social front we have two major events during the year - firstly our Annual Dinner which will be held in March this year and which has been highly successful over recent years. The second social event is our Weekend Retreat at the end of the season which usually attracts a fair number of extrovert members to new depths of inebriation and social exclusion.
